MENISCO

IS IT NECESSARY TO OPERATE MENISCO'S PAIN?

Menisci are two cartilaginous structures, consisting mainly of protein and water, located within the knee joint, and made of a substance called fibrocartilage.

Their mission is nothing less than to improve joint function. They act as a shock absorber, receiving all body weight and absorbing shock waves. This makes its function in our joint mechanics very important.

What happens when the Menisci deteriorate?

When the meniscus deteriorates, it can cease to fulfill its mission. Given the case of wear, the articular surfaces must take care of the support charge, hence triggering knee osteoarthritis.
